Brighton Winter Wedding

Last Saturday we had calm, dry and mild weather for the majority of Albina and Simon’s Brighton wedding, and when you consider that heavy rain was predicted throughout, we were truly blessed! We took full advantage of the situation and took lots lovely fun and natural shots in a variety of locations around Brighton. We even managed a few shots at the Pavilion entrance, not realising that there was a bride waiting patiently behind me and returned for a wet and windy finale at the Royal Pavilion ice rink. For a small wedding with a handful of people we managed to pull off some quite remarkable images. Here are a number of my favourites:

We bused into Brighton yesterday for a mini photoshoot before watching the burning of the clocks. Visiting the beach was a must, especially when the light was so wonderful. I’ve added a vintage tint to a few of the images for a bit of fun.

So another year of curry clubbing comes to an end and what a wonderful end it was. I’m a big fan of the Brighton Business Curry Club and am in it for the long term! I’ve selected my favourite images from last night, incorporating all the entertainment and the headline sponsor as follows: RAP Interiors, Magic-Al, Bubsie & The Beat Bro’s, LD Entertainments & Alice Amelia. Also I must say a big thank you to Lisa from Letmedothatforyou and Sussex Promotions for the squeezy santa stress ball. I feel so much calmer now that I’ve given santa a squeeze!

Having spent the last year concentrating my efforts on excellent customer relations, networking and new business, I was thrilled to be involved with the 2011 Sussex Business Awards as the official awards photographer. The evening is a great celebration of excellence and commitment to customer service and satisfaction. It was a fitting end, or thereabouts, to my most successful year ever and great to be surrounded by many businesses in Sussex who are finding the same success. We braved the winds on Saturday morning for a family portrait session, combined with an engagement shoot for Sam and Gareth, one of my 2012 wedding couples. Despite the wind we had a really lovely session which starting at home and continued on Brighton seafront, above and along Marine Parade. It was an absolute pleasure to spend 3 hours with such a warm family who were so willing and fun! You can see a selection of the family portraits from the shoot here. Recently I photographed a lovely wedding in Uckfield, East Sussex for Hayley and Deon. Hayley and Deon live in Western Australia, so they employed the services of Sue and Clive, wedding planners at Eleganza weddings. I’ve worked with Sue and Clive on a number of occasions and it’s always a pleasure. They deserve some promotion from me because they are always successful when recommending my services. With this in mind I felt that a feature on ‘OMG I’m getting married’ would be a great start and a real possibility with such a lovely set of images. Fay Millar of Pink Rose Cakes has been creating stunning wedding and celebration cakes for many years and is considered to be one of the most talented and innovative cake designers in Brighton. I have known Fay for 5 years and have photographed and tasted her wonderful wedding cakes on a number of occasions and wholeheartedly recommend her.

Briony of Briony Billingham Floral Design has been creating beautiful floral displays for weddings over many years and never ceases to create something spectacular. It’s funny because I hadn’t met Briony until recently and yet I could always tell when I was photographing her flowers, because they are elegant in their simplicity and strong in design. Fabulous flowers and a glowing recommendation from me.

Sue and Clive Parrish of Eleganza Weddings have been planning weddings for many years and always do a fantastic job. I had the most incredible experience a few months back when I visited and photographed the Oliver Fisher Trust Special Care Baby Unit at the Medway Maritime Hospital. It all came about when a long standing friend, who is now a trustee, came to me and asked for my help. I was only to happy to help and only a few months later they have launched their new website, put together by Kris Jeary of Squiders Web Design . On Friday I was pleased to once again be the photographer chosen to cover the 2011 SESCA Annual Dinner at the American Express Community Stadium, Falmer.Â I was lucky enough to see another witty and insightful speech by the Rt Hon Michael Portillo.Â A special mention must go to Katherine Skinner and Gwen Coleman for their hard work organising the event, Steve Morey the Master of Ceremonies and Dave Barnard’s Rubber Band the eight piece band.

This morning I met up with Virginia and Dorothy for a coffee and a natural portrait session at Drury’s in Richardson Road, Hove. The brief was to take vibrant, natural portraits in a relaxed environment with little intervention. The following two shots demonstrate this well. For the majority of the session the light was soft, yet bright and couldn’t have been better for an outdoor shoot..
