On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Kate and Ian’s lovely wedding at St Mary Magdalene Church in Bolney, West Sussex before zipping up the road for their wonderful garden reception. This wedding was the final chapter in the Lancing College friend’s wedding trilogy, and the fourth for connections of, however I’d love to keep coming back for more! Yet again the weather was kind to us, having looked very menacing on all the morning forecasts, and I was blessed with a brave and carefree bride and groom who made the most of every opportunity, including risking a soaking by having the roof down on their fabulous vintage Morris Minor! The ceremony was out of bounds for me, until Kate and Ian were married, although with a few well chosen images before and after it wouldn’t be immediately obvious. Lots of candid photography outside the church, a scenic group in front and a documented stroll down to the car, rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable and productive ceremony. Leaving the roof down on the Morris Minor certainly paid off, as you’ll see below, and the reception marquee in the garden proved an inspired choice, allowing the guests to escape several showers during the drinks reception and allowing me to continue taking my trademark documentary images. With a little help from the ushers, we managed to work our way through a list of groups and squeeze in some crutial natural bride and groom shots around the idyllic gardens. The wedding breakfast that followed was stunning, the food, the marquee and the setup. The speeches were lively and polished and the band rocked! I’d like to make a few mentions before I proceed with the images. ZHL String Ensemble were awesome throughout the drinks reception and a little audience participation near the end gave them an extra string to their bow (couldn’t resist that one!). The Undercovers wedding and function band were brilliant and had everyone rocking from the word go.
