In all my years as a wedding photographer I’ve only had the pleasure of shooting two weddings in the snow and Amy and Jon’s wedding at the delightful Hendall Manor Barns was the second one. It was March 2018 and a north wind had begun to blow during the week leading up to the wedding and I was getting very excited about the prospect of an all white wedding! So when I woke up to snow on the morning of the wedding, I was completely overjoyed!
My day started at bride’s preps with Amy, in Ringmer just outside Lewes and she really was the most chilled bride I’ve ever seen, and that’s not chilled by the north wind! No amount of snow could dampen Amy’s excitement, in fact the snow only excited her more with the prospect of their wedding portraits in the snow. There are lots of wonderful things I can say about Hendall, but the one I will concentrate on today is the fabulous reception glass area in the barn that has fabulous light and plenty of room to mingle. There’s no worries about being kept inside here, although everyone was willing to venture outside nevertheless! After a group shot inside from the top of a large ladder, we made our way outside for some smaller groups and a couple shoot around the grounds. We had to make it fairly swift because it was so cold, but 15 minutes was enough to set the scene beautifully and take some lovely intimate portrait moments of Amy and Jon together. Swift but sweet!
Ending the day with a lively and fun party was the icing on the cake for their wedding and their guests were certainly in the mood to dance, as you can see from the images below. They cap off an awesome day and now I shall let my images do the talking and say thank you to Amy and Jon for choosing me to document their wedding day. Enjoy!
