return to bartholomew barn for carole and matt’s wonderful wedding

Bartholomew Barn weddings are always special, but when I met Carole and Matt I instantly knew they were a couple I wanted to work with and fortunately for me they agreed!

My day started with bride’s preparations at the charming Pound Cottage in Kirdford and what a lovely start to the day it was; light-hearted, calm and  fun, but for the missing car keys! Unruffled, Carole arrived at the barn, emitting her inimitable warmth and looking beautiful and radiant. The wedding ceremony was lovely and a welcome change of position for the bride and groom, opting to stand facing the north windows, with the bridal party seated and the guests informally standing behind. It worked beautifully for photography and gave me the perfect light throughout the ceremony. The drinks reception followed and I practiced my usual routine, allowing the bride and groom a good hour to enjoy their guests, before a short photo session around the venue and surrounding countryside, not forgetting the formal groups to mark the occasion. The group shot of all the guests led seamlessly into the father of the bride’s speech in the courtyard, before taking their seats in the marquee for the remaining speeches and a sumptuous meal by Jacaranda catering. The evening light was glorious and a fitting end to a spectacular day that celebrated family and friends. Congratulations Carole and Matt and without further ado, here’s my take on your special day!
