I do love travelling up to London for weddings and here’s my latest one in Blackheath and Greenwich, another glorious and intimate wedding day, this time for the lovely Claire and Tom. I was so excited to be shooting their wedding in mid May, having only shot a couple out of lockdown 2021. My brief for the day was predominantly documentary, with a handful of groups thrown in and a whirlwind couple shoot around Greenwich Naval College. The wedding ceremony itself was at the wonderful St John’s Church Blackheath, a beautiful church with a lovely vicar. There were a few locations to visit beforehand, bride’s preparations in Blackheath and groom’s preparations at the Hilton Hotel in Greenwich.
After the beautiful socially distanced wedding ceremony, which was complemented throughout by many stunning hymns courtesy of their handpicked choir of friends, we spent a little time in the garden at the rear of the church before jumping into taxis for the reception at the Old Brewery within Greenwich Naval College. That was a real treat and we were lucky enough to have some outside cover during the drinks reception to avoid the showers that hit on several occasions. The Brewery itself is stunning and great for a wedding reception, but coupled with the opportunity to explore the grounds of the Naval College, it provides the perfect backdrop for any wedding. I do love a big wedding, but I have to say that these intimate 30 guests weddings are pretty awesome and a great way to get to know everyone and make sure everyone features well.
So without further ado, here’s my take on this lovely day, shot naturally to capture all the lovely moments.
