Having been recommended by Hever Castle for an engagement party/traditional ceremony recently, I was so excited about returning to Hever to spend an evening with a wonderful couple and their close knit family and friends. The evening started at 5.45pm under a leaden sky, with a bitter wind ripping through the grounds, kick starting a familiar evening of unsettled English spring weather. Undeterred by the weather the guests streamed into Hever as I documented their arrival and before long we found time for a swift couple shoot ahead of the ceremony and imminent torrential downpour. What followed that downpour was a glorious spell of sunshine and showers, complemented by a beautiful rainbow framed by the Loggia arches. The low golden sunlight streamed in through the Loggia, bathing the bride in striking evening light and setting the scene for a lovely set of ceremony images. The ceremony was a lovely family affair, but brief to save the guests from the bitterly cold wind. I challenge anyone to not go through with a planned under cover open air ceremony in such beautiful surroundings! After an indoor drinks reception the couple and I disappeared for a twenty minute couple shoot, after the sun went down and ahead of the speeches and evening reception. Here’s a taster of this four hour event, that was a complete joy to shoot and a celebration of love, family and friends. Enjoy!
