Living in Sussex means I’m very familiar with Kew Gardens’ Wakehurst Place, their wild botanic gardens in the heart of Sussex. I’ve been there many times and marvelled at the glory of the flora and fauna, plus the occasional glimpse of their beautiful kingfishers.
I remember my first visit to Kew Gardens as a teenager and the sense of awe I felt at the beautiful architecture, stunning scenery and majesty of the trees throughout the estate. I never dreamed I’d be shooting weddings there years later, however a few years ago I had the opportunity to shoot my first wedding at Kew Gardens and I knew from that trip that I was in for a real treat. Bizarrely a few months before the wedding I was treated to a trip to London for my first Kew Gardens engagement shoot, which was completely out of the blue and so exciting. The sky was blue and everything sparkled in the intense sunlight, giving me so much opportunity for lovely portraits around the grounds. Moving forward a few months and it was time for the wedding, ceremony at a Swedish Church in London and the reception a Kew. We had stunning weather once again and my brief for the day was to document the day as naturally as possible with a short time put aside for some portraits at Kew, some during their planned buggy ride before dinner and a few after. The day was super chilled and absolutely lovely!
You can see both the wedding and the engagement shoot below and please do get in touch if you like what you see and you’re planning a Kew Gardens or Wakehurst Place wedding.
