The last wedding I shot at Slaugham Place in West Sussex was over 10 years ago, but despite this my memory of that wonderful wedding day was very vivid indeed. So when Rose and Nic booked me for their wedding at Slaugham Place I was really excited to return and I knew exactly what was in store for me. The weather certainly does play it’s part in wedding preparations at Slaugham Place, but Rose and Nic chose a date with absolutely perfect weather for their wedding and it was an absolute joy to photograph.
My brief for the wedding was to document the day as naturally as possible, with a handful of groups and several very short portraits sessions squeezed into the schedule. My day started with a whirlwind visit to see the guys for groom’s preps before dashing off to see the girls for an hour a few miles away. The chilled vibe and energy of the day was exactly as I’d expected, setting the tone for a very relaxed day to come. The sun beat down on us during the ceremony and drinks reception, which were both held around the ruins, but the best was yet to come, with spectacular golden hour light cast across the crumbling walls, creating a beautiful warm glow for anyone that stood in its path. We had a lovely brisk shoot within the ruins during golden hour and the Greek dancing was the icing on the cake for their fabulous Sussex wedding! Here’s a selection of my favourite moments throughout the day and into the evening.
