Welcome to my Wadhurst Castle weddings page, a gorgeous venue I’ve be recommended at for many years.
Being recommended by a venue is a huge privilege and has many benefits, not just for me, but for the couple and the venue. I benefit by receiving more bookings to ensure I continue as a full time wedding photographer and I gain valuable knowledge of the best spots and when and where the best light is. Couples benefit from my knowledge of the venue, resulting in even more beautiful photos, a more relaxed approach to their day and more time with their guests. The benefits for the venue is that they understand how I work, how comfortable the couple and their guests are with me and that the timings for the day will run smoothly to ensure the meal is served on time. It’s like one big happy family working together to ensure the best possible experience for the couple and their guests.
Wadhurst Castle is a Regency castle just to the west of the village of Wadhurst built on the site of a much older house which was mentioned in records of the 14th Century. In an elevated position, the castle commands magnificent panoramic views of the glorious Sussex countryside to the South and West. First built in 1818-20 by James Louis West, on the site of the farmhouse of Maplehurst, the castle was bought by Benjamin Harding in 1838, for whom it was remodelled to its present appearance by the architect Edward Buckton Lamb. In 1955 the Fitzgerald family purchased Wadhurst Castle and the estate is now in the joint ownership of the Fitzgerald and Clough families who have done a great deal to return the gardens and grounds to their former glory. It’s an incredibly beautiful building and the surrounding gardens and views are breathtaking.
The castle is a favourite venue of mine and I’m really pleased to have been a recommended photographer at Wadhurst castle for more than 6 years. I have an excellent relationship with Susan, Cassie and their team and the weddings there are always super chilled and full of opportunity. With drinks receptions on the lawn outside the castle and speeches on the steps of the castle, couples and their guests make full use of this beautiful backdrop.

Sophie and Clement’s wedding day at Wadhurst Castle. A little unsettled weather kept us on our toes during the day and a few dark clouds came over during the outdoor wedding ceremony, however the ceremony went ahead outside and the day went exactly as planned, mostly in glorious sunshine! Here’s some of my favourite moments from Sophie and Clement’s French and English Wadhurst Castle wedding day.
Amanda and Matt – Before their Wadhurst Castle wedding I had the pleasure of their pre-wedding shoot and it was amazing to see how natural these two were together during their Autumn Wadhurst Castle pre-wedding shoot.
Emma and Peter – Emma called me one day a chat about their wedding, having seen my first wedding at Wadhurst Castle, and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was when they chose me to shoot their spring Wadhurst Castle wedding. Leading up to the wedding we got together for their fab pre-wedding shoot at Wadhurst Castle.
Sarah and Max– I vividly remember driving to Wadhurst Castle for the first time, for a pre-wedding shoot with Sarah and Max, driving through thick fog and wondering what exciting opportunities this would bring at the castle. I had to wait a while for them to appear after their meeting with Clare, however once they did we set about taking plenty of lovely atmospheric shots around the grounds. Please feel free to browse their Wadhurst Castle pre-wedding shoot.
